Presenting Companies: Paieon Inc.

Core Business / Technology

Paieon Inc., founded in 2000, is a pioneering medical imaging company in the field of Image Processing for Interventional Cardiology procedures. Its first released product, the CardiOp-B System, is the world's first commercial 3D imaging system for real time use in cardiovascular procedures. Privately owned, Paieon Inc. Located in New York owns Paieon Medical LTD in Israel which serves mainly as its R&D center. The company has 25 employees 18 in R&D most of them are Software engineers and Medical experts.

Main Markets / Applications

The CardiOp–B System is a stand alone PC based workstation that connects to the CathLab through a DICOM interface. CardiOp-B allows the Interventional cardiologist to use two standard 2D images to reconstruct the desired vessel segment into a 3D image, providing accurate quantitative information such as lesion length, stenosis cross section area and diameter, for successful device selection and treatment. The CardiOp-B is FDA and CE certified.

Main Products Marketed or Under Development

Paieon Inc. is currently engaged with exciting products and applications development at different stages of progression, all of which to be finalized in the foreseeable future these future products address various needs during Interventional Cardiology Diagnosis and Treatment procedures, such as:

  • 1. CardiOp Guidance - will enable interventionalists to localize therapeutic devices within vessels in real time using the 3-D reconstruction as a guide
  • 2. CardiOp Flow - presents information on the flow of blood across a vessel segment. This may be used to assess the significance of a stenosis severity, as well as to evaluate the outcome of treatment
  • 3. EP - 3D reconstruction of coronary veins in Bi-Ventricular pacing to facilitate the Bi-Ventricular lead navigation and localization
  • 4. C-MSCT- will enable use of MSCT data in the interventional procedure. The MSCT data, received prior to the catheterization procedure, will be fused with the processed angiographic data by the CardiOp-B system, all presented in real time 3D reconstruction to support decision making and treatment
  • Uniqueness / Advantage over Existing Products

Paieon’s systems have several advantages which are complementary to existing angiography. These include the advantages of 3D over 2D, in terms of accurate representation of vessel morphology and stenosis measures keeping the current existing Work Flow with no need for an additional intervention. Additional advantages include the creation in Real Time of a single comprehensive reconstruction for reference and guidance of therapy. Recommendations to C-Arm optimal image acquisition angles are not available in standard angiography systems.
