Presenting Companies: Immunomed

Core Business / Technology

Immunomed is a biotechnology start up company dedicated to the discovery and development of innovative Biological Response Modifiers (BRM) therapies for lucrative markets in the fields of Hematopoiesis Disorders, Cancer Adjuvant & secondary therapy, HIV, Infectious Diseases, Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Mellitus and Auto Immune Diseases. Immunomed has developed a family of bioactive peptides, derived from Casein of cow's milk, acting as strong BRMs, shown to induce different stem cells proliferation and additional protective strong immune reactions.

Main Markets / Applications

Immunomed has focused on a family of bioactive peptides, derived from Casein of cow's milk, acting as strong BRMs, inducing different stem cells proliferation and additional protective immune reactions.

Main Products Marketed or Under Development

Chay-13, the company's leading product is a native mixture of peptides that was found to serve as a key growth factor compound involved in basic processes of stem cells differentiation and proliferation during hematopoiesis. Experience gained with Chay-13 shows its ability to promote different stem cells proliferation and bone marrow reconstitution following cancer treatments like chemotherapy and radiation.

Following high dose chemotherapy and especially following ASCT, patients are at risk for thrombocytopenia which may last for many months and up to 3 years. To date, no progress has been made in the treatment of thrombocytopenia and it is a common cause of death at ASCT centers worldwide. It is considered as a major problem in clinical Bone Marrow Transplant centers, for which no satisfactory solution has yet been found.

Chay-13's demonstrable ability to promote stem cells differentiation and proliferation, enhance various types of blood stem cells proliferation, as well as efficacy in leukocyte and platelets reconstitution, is a powerful indicator that it may serve as a unique treatment of thrombocytopenia. The results were observed both in-vitro and in-vivo in experimental animals and in preliminary clinical results in cancer patients.

Uniqueness / Advantage over Existing Products

Immunomed has also developed a pipeline of synthetic peptides that may be used instead of the native Chay-13, on the basis of the native Chay-13 sequencing and characterization. The experimental results clearly indicate that Chay-13 is safe, non toxic when administered to experimental animals, in doses as high as 3gr/kg IV.

Since Thrombocytopenia is a major clinical problem with no available treatment on the market today, establishing a treatment for thrombocytopenia provides a regulatory advantage which may allow the company to request FDA fast track review, reducing regulatory requirements and shorten time to market.
