Presenting Companies: FlowMedic (Israel) Ltd.

Core Business / Technology

The company is dedicated to developing a new generation of medical devices for the non-invasive treatment of various circulatory disorders of the lower limbs such as DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis), Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) and related clinical conditions such as Critical Limb Ischemia (CLI) and Intermittent Claudication (IC).

Main Markets / Applications

FlowMedic’s technology offers a breakthrough alternative to available treatments in the arterial and venous disease markets: Peripheral Arterial Disease (affecting approximately 12 million people in the US); Critical Limb Ischemia, a condition causing leg pain, non-healing wounds and gangrene that often require surgical revascularization or amputation, and affects nearly one million people in the US; Chronic Venous Insufficiency, a common condition affecting 7 million Americans, where blood pools in the veins of the lower legs; Deep Vein Thrombosis

FlowMedic’s technology provides preventive treatment to individuals predisposed to DVT, and those traveling on long plane flights who are at risk of developing deadly blood clots. DVT occurs when a blood clot develops in a deep vein, usually in the leg. Surgery and some medical treatments can also increase the risk of DVT.

Main Products Marketed or Under Development

The FlowMedic technology is based on a distinctive physiological concept, the Elastic RecoilTM Effect, a patented technology that helps improve circulation in arteries that may be stiff due to diabetes, atherosclerosis, or other circulatory problems. The Elastic RecoilTM Effect employs a steeper gradient while reducing pressure, resulting in more effective blood flow to the lower limbs. Clinical studies are currently being conducted to quantify the efficacy of the Elastic RecoilTM effect.

The company’s current product offering includes the FM220 Arterial Circulation Enhancer which recently received FDA clearance for marketing in the USA and a consumer device for DVT prophylaxis which will be launched in Europe during Q3, 2005.

Uniqueness / Advantage over Existing Products

FlowMedic has developed a line of portable and affordable devices that enhance blood flow effectively, efficiently and comfortably. Designed to be used by patients at home or in the hospital, FlowMedic’s breakthrough technology offers a device that is battery-operated, lightweight and comfortable to use, while providing patients with needed treatment in enhancing blood flow. The device’s ease of use promotes greater patient compliance – a key factor in ensuring the product’s success.
